Job Description
The Equipment Technician Trainee assists with the maintenance, inspection, and support of machinery and equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience, supporting senior technicians while learning troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and operational best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Support & Maintenance
- Assist in routine inspections and preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Help troubleshoot basic mechanical, electrical, and operational issues under supervision.
- Operate hand and power tools safely to support maintenance tasks.
- Document work performed, including repairs, parts used, and maintenance observations.
- Assist in installations, calibrations, or adjustments of equipment.
- Report equipment issues promptly to senior technicians or supervisors.
Operational Support
- Support the setup and preparation of equipment for production runs.
- Assist in ensuring equipment and work areas meet safety and operational standards.
- Help organize and maintain tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
Collaboration & Learning
- Work closely with senior technicians and other maintenance staff to complete tasks.
- Participate in training and mentoring to develop technical skills and knowledge.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or technical certification required.
- 0–2 years of experience in equipment maintenance, support, or related technical field; school labs or internships acceptable.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
- Industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and variable conditions.
- Regular standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- May require extended hours, weekend work, or on-call availability.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
